Wake County Finance has selected PaymentWorks as a tool to manage vendor information to ensure efficiency throughout the pay process. Election Officials will receive an e-mailed invitation to register and will be able to enter all their information to be paid for working elections safely and securely. Frequently Asked Questions


1. Question: What is the PaymentWorks Portal?

 Answer: PaymentWorks is the County's vendor self-serve portal for new and existing vendors and Election Day Precinct Officials.

2. Question: Do I need to create an account if I've already provided my information before?

 Answer: If you have been paid for working Election Day in the past and/or already provided your information to us, you will only need to create an account to provide updates to your address, contact information, or banking information (if set up for direct deposit). This does not pertain to any payment information that may have been provided to work Early Voting.

3. Question: Can I have someone from Wake County fill out the registration on my behalf?  

Answer: Since the process requires an e-mail invitation and the Precinct Official to complete and attest to their own information, it can only be done by the Precinct Official.

4. Question: If I currently receive paper checks, do I need to create a PaymentWorks account to setup direct deposit?  

Answer: Yes, you will need to create an account. Please contact the Staffing Team at elections@wake.gov to have an invitation sent to your e-mail.

5. Question: I currently receive paper checks for my Election Day payment. Do I need to do anything if I want to continue receiving paper checks?  

Answer: No, you will not need to create a PaymentWorks account! Unless your address and contact information has not changed, no action is required.

6. Question: What is the recommended browser to use?  

Answer: Please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. If Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge are not currently installed on your computer, please download one of them.

7. Question: How do I check the status of my Registration? 

Answer: Click on the Connect tab to view status. If the online registration is successfully complete a Complete status under Customer Registrations section is noted.

8. Question: Do I need to use a specific e-mail server like Gmail, Yahoo, or Microsoft Outlook? 

Answer: No, but please make sure you are using an active e-mail account.

9. Question: Who do I contact if I have questions?  

Answer: If you have issues with your e-mailed invitation, please send an e-mail to elections@wake.gov. Please contact PaymentWorks when you: 

    • Experience issues navigating the platform 

    • Forget your username 

    • Need to reset your password
